DVT surgery in '09 and have INR # drawn every 2 weeks or monthly - WHAT.....?

Anything BELOW the theraputic 2.0 - 3.0 means your blood is too thick, placing you at risk for another clot. Anything ABOVE these levels means that your blood is too thin, placing you at risk for bleeding somewhere in your body. This is a finely tuned dance that you must do when you are taking Warfarin. 3 mg was not enough. Hopefully the 4 mg will be just right. The milligrams are subjective because every person's body chemistry is different and this is trial and error. You start low to build into the theraputic range without causing some bleeding somewhere and then titrate the medication either up or down according to regular protimes/INR.
