Where is a good place to buy a mattress?

Should I buy from like J.P. Penney or Sears or should I buy from a mattress store, like American Mattress? I'm buying a bed for me and my teenager. I want decent bed frames and mattresses but I don't want to spend a fortune either. Who has better quality and prices?? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
